About School of Wood
At School of Wood, we believe woodworking is for everyone. Founded by Glenn Wimetal, a passionate craftsman who’s been shaping timber since his teenage years, our Melbourne-based locations offer beginner-friendly woodworking classes in both Coburg and Richmond. Our mission is to make woodworking accessible, teaching you to create beautiful, functional pieces with confidence in a supportive, small-group setting.
Our Coburg-based classes, limited to just 4 students, provide hands-on guidance at NORM Warehouse and our Richmond-based classes host 7 participants and tackles the basics of woodworking in the dedicated Burley Backyard workshop. Whether you’re mastering hand tools, learning joinery, or finishing your first project—like a custom box or shelf—you’ll work at your own pace with expert instruction from Glenn. We even guide you through the process of sourcing your own project-specific timber from the local timber yards, ensuring your project reflects your vision.
We’re committed to safe, sustainable woodworking. Our classes emphasise proper tool use and safety practices, and we prioritize eco-friendly materials where possible.
